The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has announced the launch of a digital platform to map out data relevant to investment prospects in the region.
It said the initiative is a UK-first, and that it supports the effort to mobilise over £19 billion worth of regeneration over the various sites.
Named Site Selection WM, the platform maps over 64 development and occupier sites using real time data, including planning status, land use, investment type and industry focus.
It also provides local market intelligence to inform investment decisions – including demographics, amenities, innovation assets and connectivity – and highlights the West Midlands Investment Zone.
The platform was commissioned by the West Midlands Growth Company in partnership with WMCA, Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Wolverhampton City Council and Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull and Walsall Councils.
Step change in engagement
Mayor of the West Midlands Richard Parker said: “Showcasing over 1,000 acres of regeneration opportunities, Site Selection WM effectively captures the enormous scale of West Midlands ambition. By offering a more innovative and transparent way to explore a range of development sites, it marks a step change in how the region engages the global investor community.
“From town centre revitalisation projects; to forward thinking, affordable housing led schemes, bringing forward the right infrastructure is critical to my mission of fostering growth for everyone.”
Site Selection WM has been launched ahead of the West Midlands Local Growth Plan, due to be published next month, which will identify place based growth and a new Spatial Development Strategy as central themes.
